Cookie Policy

What's On? — Last updated: 5 August 2026

This page explains the cookies used by the What's On? web app at whatson-events.com. What's On? is operated by WHATS ON EVENTS LTD (company number 17375595), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. This page covers the web app only. If you use our Android or iOS app, no cookies are set — see the Analytics section of our Privacy Policy for how mobile analytics works. Mobile advertising consent (Google AdMob / UMP) is a separate mechanism, is not a cookie, and is described in our Privacy Policy — it is not covered by this page.

Cookies we use

On first visit in a web browser, a banner asks whether you accept or decline analytics cookies. No analytics cookies are set until you accept. If you decline, or close the banner without choosing, analytics remains off for that browser.

The cookies we set once you accept are:

Strictly-necessary storage

When you sign in, FlutterFire persists your Firebase Authentication state in the browser’s IndexedDB (the web SDK default; this app does not override persistence). That storage is strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly requested (staying signed in to your account) and does not require consent under UK PECR. It is unaffected by your analytics-cookie choice below.

Changing your choice

You can accept or decline analytics cookies at any time. Open the app, tap the account icon, go to Preferences, and tap Analytics cookies to change your choice. If you decline after previously accepting, we stop analytics collection for that browser and remove the analytics cookies listed above.

How long we keep analytics data

For Google Analytics 4, our property’s data-retention setting (currently up to 14 months) applies to user-level and event-level data used in explorations and similar features. It does not limit standard aggregated reports, which Google may retain for the life of the property. We do not currently export analytics events to BigQuery or other linked products with a separate retention policy. You can request deletion of analytics data that relates to you by emailing privacy@whatson-events.com. See the Analytics section of our Privacy Policy for full details of the deletion process and international data transfers.
